Matthew McKay is a clinical psychologist and a professor at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California. In 1979, he cofounded Haight Ashbury Psychological Services in San Francisco and served as its clinical director for twenty-five years. Currently he serves as the director of the Berkeley Cognitive Behavior Therapy Clinic. He has explored spiritual and afterlife issues in two previous books: Why? and Your Life on Purpose. He is also the author of professional and self-help psychology books, including Thoughts & Feelings, Messages, Mind and Emotions, Self-Esteem, Prisoners of Belief, and many others.

  Thanks so much for your comment. That one truth — that our sole purpose here is to learn — has changed my life. I am currently reading your book. You and Jordan have given me great hope. I have felt my late father and heard his thoughts in my head especially when visiting my mother. I doubted my sanity. Thank you so much for sharing your understanding. I would desperately love to learn how to do the kind of writing that you do in conjunction with Jordan. Where do I begin?

I have had ‘afterlife’ experiences my entire life. In our culture people like me with this ‘gift’ are maligned, threatened,etc. Unfortunately this creates mistrust where love and cooperation should exist. Some people within my family/friends’ circles don’t know this critical fact about me along with former employers,co-workers. I have channelled strangers from the afterlife for those residing on the earth side. Never charged nor received a cent. Also have a gift for finding lost pets, animals. Realized this later in life. Sorry some people don’t accept that;many could be reunited with missing pets. Many years ago a friend’s cat went missing. I ‘saw’ the cat asleep in the open back of a pickup truck with N.Y. plates. Over next 2 months saw the cat travelling, by paw, through many locations. Like having a ‘video’ update. My friend had trouble believing me but I insisted that she look out her back door window every morning when she awakens because her cat will be waiting for her to open the door. The cat was gone for two months. Disappeared in August and returned,skinny and bedraggled, one October morning outside the back door. My friend doesn’t doubt me anymore but it’s troubling that people I could help are too doubtful/skeptical to accept what sometimes is a lifesaving rescue.
